Teaching Human Gross Anatomy in Physical Therapy Education in Korea

Abstract

The science of anatomy considers the structure and functional characteristics of living things, and this unit introduces basic concepts essential to the study of the human body. Especially, a strong base of gross human anatomy is thought to serve as the foundation for all subsequent physical therapy courses and is a cornerstone for physical therapy practice.
The purpose of this study was to conduct a survey that would provide a database -to elucidate the depth, breadth and scope of human anatomy instruction in physical therapy programs in Korea. Faculty in 33 physical therapy programs participated in this survey. A four page questionnaire, which was mailed to 15 professors.
Results from this study indicate that there should be an evaluation of the human gross anatomy course offered by physical therapy education programs in Korea focused on the curricular time. anatomy laboratory, and human gross anatomy content areas.
